The terms of "alien" and "alienation" in the work of Bernard-Marie Koltès

My work deals with the concepts of "alien" and "alienation" in the main dramatic works by Bernard-Marie Koltèse. It reflects the author's relationship to black Africa and his feeling of self distinction from his society and an inability to integrate into this society. It also shows how this "otherness" is reflected in his figures. In the following chapters the work deals with author's dramatic treatment of space and time and alienation of the text using specific language tools. Based on the analysis of individual works I evaluate the identical or divergent attitudes to these subjects making a comprehensive view of Koltès's concept of alien. At the end of my work I conclude that although all Koltès's games are completely different, the basic elements are the same. The author's attitude to the already mentioned topics is invariant and acts as a unifying element of his work. Key words: theatre, alienation, alien

Migration and its social construction in approaches of political parties in the Chamber of Deputies in the Czech Republic

Migration is a phenomenon which has strong impact on the Czech Republic. The Czech Republic is currently under transformation from transit country to immigration country. At the present time the situation is even more complicated because of the migrant crises which impact all of us. I suppose that the Members of Parliament will create social constructions or narratives about migrants during the sitting of parliament. I aim to identify social constructions of migrants that are created by the Czech political parties represented in the Chamber of Deputies since the 2013 election. I will divide social construction into two main groups. Ones belong to migrants and the other ones to refugees. I would like to find out if there are more positive or negative social constructions and how are benefits and punishments distributed to these groups. I would like to discover key narratives of particular political negotiation as well. Theoretical background of this thesis is the social construction of target population theory of Anne Schneider and Helen Ingram. In the manner of Lina Newton's article "It is not a question of being anti-immigrant: Categories of deservedness in immigration policy making", I will use a combination of discursive and narrative analysis as the main method. The analysis starts with the year 2012 when neither media nor political agendas did assign any importance to this topic. The whole examination will end with year 2017. An issue will be considered through views of both mainstream parties: how they approach topic in bounded time interval and if they tried to exploit anti-immigration moods in society by embracing dislike of immigration in their schemes. Besides, in my thesis I will be dealing with how both parties are approaching problem of immigration, what solutions are offering and how big portion of their agenda this issue takes. I will examine ways questions about migration evolved during the whole period and how terrorist attacks affected these changes in connection with the migration crisis. The aim of this bachelor's thesis is to translate Chapter 10 - Mirror Worlds - from George Basalla's book Civilized Life in the Universe: Scientists on Intelligent Extraterrestrials. This thesis includes the translation and the source text, as well as a commentary on the translation. The commentary theoretically reflects the translation process and is divided into four parts. The first part contains an analysis of the source text and potential translation problems. The second part describes the selected translation method and also comments on the differences between the source and the target communication situation. The third part comprises typology and solution to the translation problems. The fourth part describes the shifts that have been made in the course of the translation process.
